Wine Dinner: saturday, june 22

In our first Wine Dinner for the year we are showcasing our neighbour and ninth generation winemaker – Dominique Portet – who founded his winery in Coldstream in 2000, now led by son, Ben.

In an exclusive wine experience, guests will enjoy an evening of fine food matched to a selection of wines from Dominique Portet and the Napa Valley’s Clos Du Val – led by Dominique’s brother, Bernard Portet. The evening will be hosted by Dominique Portet who will provide some personal insights from his family’s rich history of winemaking.  This is a unique opportunity to taste some incredible wines from Clos Du Val Winery that have been sent to the Yarra Valley exclusively for this event, and will be matched to wines from Dominique Portet.

Priced at $99.00 per person, the evening includes pre dinner canapes, followed by a three course dinner with wines from Dominique Portet and Clos Du Val.  Numbers are strictly limited to 60 guests.

About Clos Du Val winery – napa valley

John and Henrietta Goelet founded Clos Du Val in 1972.  A descendant of Bordeaux’s famed wine merchant, Barton & Guestier,  John had a vision of producing Cabernet Sauvignon that would rival the world’s best.  French trained winemaker, Bernard Portet, was selected to head the search for the perfect property from which to produce these wines.  In 1972, two years and five continents later, a parcel in what would become the Stags Leap District in the Napa Valley was chosen to fulfill thier lofty dream.  Clos Du Val’s inaugural wine, the 1972 Clos Du Val Cabernet Sauvignon, was part of the group that topped French wines in the legendary 1976 Judgment of Paris blind tasting. Ten years later, its Cabernet Sauvignon took first place in the Judgment of Paris rematch.
